KKTC theological students complete 11 days of mission training with UCMSI

As part of their theological education, eight first- and second-year students of Kanyakumari Theological College (KKTC) were sent to UCMSI for practical mission training from 11 to 23 September 2026. The first phase took place at the UCMSI head office in Coimbatore.

What the students took part in

• A special class with Rt. Rev. S. Prince Calvin, Bishop of CSI Coimbatore Diocese, on the many dimensions of church and mission
• Conversations with people living with mental illness — learning to approach, understand and serve them with love
• Study and discussion with people living with AIDS about their challenges and our social responsibility
• Daily meditation centred on the Word and prayer
• Ministry at a children’s home
• Field training in UCMSI’s Tamil Nadu mission fields: church worship, open-street children’s ministry and evangelism, and tract ministry among people struggling with alcohol and the public
• Discussions with our missionaries about the state of the mission and their experiences

We thank our President, Rt. Rev. Dr. S. Christopher Vijayan, the KKTC administration and faculty, UCMSI missionaries and everyone who contributed. Please pray that these eight students are blessed in their studies, spiritual life and future ministry.
