About us
An indigenous missionary movement, born in Coimbatore in 1990.
History
The Christian Mission Service (CMS) was involved in missionary work along with its residential child care programme. UCMSI is the brainchild of CMS and was established in 1990 with the objective of reaching the unreached.
It began functioning as an autonomous body and today sends missionaries across India to proclaim the Good News to people who are yet to hear about the love of Jesus. People in remote villages who had not yet been reached are now beginning to see the Light through UCMSI.
Headquarters
The headquarters of UCMSI is at Pattanam, near Ondipudur in Coimbatore — a tree-filled campus with a retreat centre that can accommodate about 50 people, set in beautiful natural surroundings. Many churches, organisations and prayer groups use the facility for spiritual camps and retreats.
How we are supported
We do not rely on foreign support. We make all our needs known to God in prayer and share among members. Sacrificial giving is taught in the churches, and members contribute free-will offerings. Appointed elders keep account of the funds spent on the ministries and on supporting full-time workers.
